A small recap of the #sitNL event in my SDN blog .

SAP TechEd 2010, agenda conflicts ...

SAP TechEd Top 10 (2010)

Here we go, Top 10 SAP TechEd topics 2010. Just like in 2009 and in 2008 . Based on the 417 sessions published on the site I counted the hit ratio on the below listed topics. Not to be taken too seriously, just for fun ;-) (1, 1) SAP NetWeaver (93 sessions) (2, 10) Business Objects (45) (3, 6) ABAP (32) (5, 4) BPM (22) (4, 5) BI (18) (-, -) Sybase (17) (-, -) Mobile (15) (-, -) PI (13) (7, 9) Web Dynpro (12) (7, 10) Enterprise services (8) (-,-) Microsoft (8) Runners up : Sybase and mobile applications. Looking forward to play around with that next week. And as predicted : Microsoft. Droppers , not in the Top 10 anymore: Composition Environment (4 sessions, #8 in 2008, #9 in 2009), Java (4 sessions, #3 in 2008, #8 in 2009) and SOA (4 sessions, #2 in 2008, #6 in 2009). Sybase is no surprise. Just as Business Objects wasn't last year. Java dropped out of the Top 10. Looking back at SAP TechEd 2009 you could predict that to happen. Last year all Java sessions were hidden somewhere ...

SAP TechEd 2009 Vienna Recap

Great to see how SAP integrated Twitter in the event. Screensavers everywhere to get live updates from participants. Next stop is to get audience participation during keynote via Twitter in 2010? Hope that will spice up the keynote a bit ;-) When you are a frequent visitor you can clearly see the increments in SAP products. Besides the hands-on training and the latest roadmaps, SAP TechEd is also a great event to actually meet all the SDN/BPX bloggers, co-tweeters and SAP Mentors. Here the collaboration of the future is composed, beyond company borders within communities formed by people of the same mind. Read a detailed summary on my SDN blog .

SAP TechEd 2009 on Twitter

Image
Twitter is a great platform to follow event attendees, type in the hashtag in some Twitter app and you read all about the event. Try it this week with SAP TechEd Bangalore, use the hashtag #sapteched09. SAP did a great job integrating Twitter into the event. They were promoting to use it on beforehand. And during the event @sapteched kept us up to date. You just could not get by all the #sapteched09 tweets, SAP installed screensavers all over the place. @ttrapp You are a real #sapteched09 die hard. Still in a session and tweeting. I am at airport, good to have met with you. Thu Oct 29 17:33:38 +0000 2009 Closing my MacBook, feel exhausted. Need at least twice the time to process all the #sapteched09 material ;-) Thu Oct 29 16:09:49 +0000 2009 Thanks to @fotolouis I could complete our wiki for the #bpxslam09 http://bit.ly/1FOMAi #sapteched09. Thu Oct 29 16:05:30 +0000 2009 RT @jpenninkhof: Feeling a #sapteched09 after-dip coming up.. :S << Already in it, don't want to l...

SAP TechEd 2009 Top 10

It is SAP TechEd Season, every year it is the same story: how to select out of 256 session and build your personal agenda. While browsing through all the sessions I kept a small Top 10 of SAP TechEd topics (*): (1) SAP NetWeaver (88 sessions) (10) BusinessObjects (25) (6) ABAP (16) (5) BI (16) (4) BPM (15) (2) SOA (10) (9) Web Dynpro (9) (3) Java (8) (8) Composition Environment (6) (7) Enterprise Services (5) Between brackets the results from 2008 . So what can we learn ? Java dropped down to #8, ABAP raised to #3. Investments in ABAP paying off? Business Objects climbed to #2, with BI on #4 a lot of 'suit' sessions are entering the SAP TechEd schedule. BO and BI are not real 'geeks', they are suits playing with technology ;-) SOA is falling down to #6. The hype is over? BPM lost one place to BI. I would have thought that BPM would climb some places this year. Runner up topics: Xcelsius (3) and Sustainability (3) (*) Disclaimer: This Top 10 i...

SAP TechEd season

With SAP TechEd season coming up, this is a great video to have a look behind the scenes from last years SAP TechEd. 4500 attendees, 1000 laptops, 3.5 kilometers of truss, 12000 square meters of carpet and 15000 sandwiches How about that ;-)

The Agile SAP Roadshow

Coming weeks are story telling weeks. Sander Hoogendoorn and I have our Agile SAP story on the agenda at the following events: September 24, 17:00 (GMT+1) 2009 Virtual Community Day An SDN webcast open to everyone who is interested. After my slides I hope to have an interesting discussion with fellow SDNers on this topic. This will be my first webcast, I will try to prevent any technical flaws ;-) Follow the Twitter updates to get the link where the session is broadcasted. October 22, 14:15 SOA Symposium, Rotterdam Sander and I will do the “ Agile SAP: Mission Impossible ” show together for the first time. Hope we have enough time for all our slides and stories ;-) October 27 – 29, SAP TechEd Vienna During the SAP TechEd in Vienna I hope to find a timeslot to organize a meet up with other agile enthusiastic participants. Maybe we can find each other in the community clubhouse and have a cappuccino together. November 25, 14:00 Landelijk Architectuur Congres 2009 (Dutch Architec...

SAP TechEd 2008 recap

Image
This years SAP TechEd was held in Berlin, the ICC . Nice complex, originally build in the late fifties. A challenging experience if you look at the logistics of the event. The building’s nickname was Starship Enterprise (however if you look at the scale model, the building resembled the Battlestar Galactica more). Anyway all the floors and staircases fed the feeling that the building’s basis was a very interesting architecture but was never meant to host an event like the TechEd where attendees switch from location to location all the time. Not once I walked in one line to the location where the session was held. Fortunately I was never late and I didn’t miss a session as well. Catering was very well organized, especially the possibility to grab a prefab sandwich in between sessions. Saves you a lot of time compared to standing in line for the buffet. Community day I started off with the BPX community day . A change to meet with the SDN/BPX soul mates. The sessions prepared me for ...

DemoJam 2008

Image
First night event was the DemoJam , yesterday evening. Ronald and Peter participated with SAP Enterprise Portal meets Web 2.0. It was all about this trophy: Peter was the manager who wanted a Web2.0 Workplace and Ronald realized that with Open Source and the SAP EP. 3:41 Minutes left - heading in the right direction. See the relief on their faces, what a big smile :-D The result: 2nd place , right after a submission from SAP. GREAT result for Peter and Ronald, I am very proud on you guys!

Live broadcast of DemoJam

Peter and Ronald can be followed live at SDN TV . DemoJam will start at 19:00. SAP EP meets Web 2.0. Replay of the DemoJam available on SDN. Their session starts around 0:24.

Words unnecessarily

Image
Words are unnecessarily, have a look at my agenda: Well, there seems to be a small gap in the agenda of this years TechEd on Wednesday between 12:00 and 14:30. But no worries - it will be busy anyway ;-) Tuesday is a difficult day, I added only the sessions that I really want to attend - but unfortunately there are a lot of parallel sessions. At 11:00 four sessions start that are all interesting. What to choose: COMP278, Service Composition with ES Repository and Composite Application Framework UP109, : SAP NetWeaver Mobile 7.1 – A Powerful Architecture and What You Can Do With It BPM100, Business Process Management with SAP NetWeaver CE: Overview and Outlook IM200, Joint Roadmap SAP NetWeaver BI and Business Objects Today I downloaded all sessions that I am interested in (71 out of 309) and tomorrow I have plenty of time on my trip to Berlin to study this material. Another big plus of traveling by train .

SAP TechEd Top 10

With only 13 days to go I need to finalize my TechEd schedule soon. But so many sessions to choose from, 309 in total and only 3 days to plan them in. I know it is a kind of luxury problem, it must be the same feeling as my kids have in the toy shop ;-) Remind me building a business case to attend TechEd USA next year. Then I have 5 days to plan sessions ;-) Past two years I focused on Composite Applications and the Visual Composer . This year it is time for the next level, the next big thing in SAP land: Business Process Management . I am signing up (reserving a seat) for: BPM160, Building Your Own Composite Business Processes From Scratch With SAP NetWeaver BPM BPM262, How to Use Business Rules With Business Process Management And I will get in line for COMP278, Service Composition with ES Repository and Composite Application Framework BPM260, The ABC's of Modeling and Using Business Rules in SAP NetWeaver CE IM264, Embedded SAP NetWeaver BI with SAP NetWeaver Visual Composer 7...

Ronald and Peter at Demo Jam Berlin

Great news, not only do we have three sessions on this years SAP TechEd , we also have one Demo Jam Session . Peter Mayringer and Ronald Kleijn will perform live on stage a demo on “SAP EP meets web 2.0, floating iViews”, one of the technologies behind the HPP. This will happen Tuesday evening October 14th and will be broadcasted live via SDN TV. I will keep you posted on the URL to watch Peter and Ronald live on stage. What is the Demo Jam? As said, live on stage with an audience formed by all TechEd participants. About 8 demo’s are to be given, each no longer than 6 minutes. Golden rule: NO PowerPoint, only LIVE demo’s . After each presentation the audience makes a lot of noise and the presentation that receives the most … is the winner. Make sure that you support Ronald and Peter, they can use it. During the summer, SAP customers, partners, and employees submitted proposals to demo their new, electrifying technologies or applications at Demo Jam. SAP TechEd is the place where the f...
