Interview about SAP Fiori and Mobile Services

Image
Mark Raben invited me to his innovation show for SAP NL, a monthly round table talk with customers, partners and SAP colleagues. In an interview we talked about: SAP Fiori SAP HANA Cloud Platform Mobile Services Do you still need a platform to run SAP Fiori? Opportunities What are new opportunities with Fiori and a mobile platform

SAP Mobile Platform volgt nieuwe strategie

Image

SAP HANA Cloud Platform Mobile Services

Image

SAP TechEd episode 2013

Image
Here we go again, this week I will visit my 11th (!) SAP TechEd so far and for sure I haven’t had enough of it ;-) Focus of my visit to SAP TechEd has changed over the years. In the early years I filled my agenda with at much hands on sessions as possible. Lots of ABAP, some MiniApps (early mobile aspirations), SOA and later BPM. But somewhere from 2009 on it has changed to meet as much peers as possible. Sure, hands on sessions are still really valuable during the event, but meeting and discussing with experts and peers to build your network comes in handy throughout the whole year. Next to that I also like to bring something to SAP TechEd. I’ve done some talks on applying scrum to the SAP world , participated in BPM hands on sessions and as an ultimate achievement: reached SAP DemoJam stage in 2012, together with colleague Leo van Hengel. SAP Mobile Platform Wishlist

Image
It’s almost that time of the year. A period where you start writing down your wishes in a letter and hope that your wishes get fulfilled … so here we go. Dear Santa, I have been a good boy this year. Please ... (or in business language ;-) Dear SMP Product Owner, SAP TechEd just kicked off today in Las Vegas, so sorry that I can’t join you to hear and learn all about SMP3 now. Glad with the preview blogs by  Jens Koerner  ( SMP3 Launch ) and  John Wargo  ( Kapsel ) and really looking forward to SAP TechEd in Amsterdam. Wish list MDD and its UI Please update the out of the box UI components for all platforms. They are worth investing in and expanding their lifespan. It provides the possibility of having an approach that supports “Build once and Deploy anywhere”, very handy in the enterprise world. The current “Windows 3.1” look and feel is really outdated. With OpenUI coming to the MDD approach (formerly known as Agentry) it will be...

A solution architects fairy tale

Say you want to mobilize service management functionality to field service engineers - how hard can that be? But: what if SAP continuously changes its mind  what if the engineers already built their own solution  what if business management is not interested  what if you have outdated SAP systems  ...  A fairy tale of a solution architect that tries to bring relief to field service engineers. What solution is being realized, how did he get so far and now what. A solution architects fairytale with SAP mobility from Twan van den Broek My talk at SAP Inside Track Manchester , September 2013.

SAP Mobile - Quo Vadis?

Image
Before we start, maybe some background music by Dire Straits? Guess  Where Do You Think You're Going  is quite applicable ;-) I got a bit confused last week and I wanted to share my confusion with you and hope that my SAP mobile life gets demystified. So, SAP Mobile - Quo Vadis? SAP's three pillars  Now we all know SAP's 3 main pillars: Cloud Mobile HANA Needless to say that SAP shares a lot of PowerPoint slides and stories around these topics at events like SAPphire NOW and SAP TechEd, at local events like SAP Forum, press conferences and here on SDN and other sites. Last week SAP held a very important press conference,  the announcement of #SAPonHANA . And to be honest - it made me feel a bit jealous. Great story telling, together with customers and partners SAP shows the added value of running SAP on HANA. There is plenty of training material to be found in the HANA academy, a developer license, contact persons, … bottom line: SAP is s...

SAP NL Forum, Enterprise Mobility back to earth

Image
This year we did some collaboration with our SRM colleagues. Service lines SAP NetWeaver and SAP SRM came up with the idea to bring Enterprise Mobility back to earth . To show so we found dare-devil-colleague Diederick Bossenbroek who agreed to do some abseiling from SAP HQ NL. Together with Jan Laros they first did a presentation on Enterprise Mobility: Nice hype, but what is Enterprise Mobility? Where do I start? What about security? Can you accompany me, I don't like a ' big bang '. And after convincing Diederick, he came back to earth. More pictures in my Flickr album .

Enterprise mobility app challenge

Image
Last week SAP granted us " Validated Expertise Partner on Enterprise Mobility ". Needless to say that we are very happy with that. A taken of appreciation of all the good work that we do on this area. Which reminds me to remind you our new mobility event on October 11th: " It's APP 2 U ", or on the Twitterverse: #ItsAPP2U . This time we organize an app challenge , send in your idea for an enterprise mobility app. The winner is selected by a Facebook voting mechanism. Everybody is allowed to vote on the ideas, the 3 with the most "Likes" make it to the finals on October 11th. With an explanation of the business case and the enterprise mobility suggestion, a professional jury selects the winner. Ciber NL offers the winner to realize the app for FREE. To do so we plan a geek night together with customer representatives and our mobile experts. Order some cola and pizza and off we go ... It's APP 2 U - Join our Ciber NL app challenge on Enter...

So who is competing tomorrow?
